Decoding a JWT does not prove it is trustworthy
A JWT is made of encoded sections that can be inspected without the signing key. Reading the header and payload is useful for debugging claims such as issuer, audience and expiry.
Trust comes from signature verification and correct validation rules. A decoder that shows readable claims has not authenticated the token.
A realistic example
Decode a development token to inspect its expiration timestamp and audience, but verify the signature in your application before accepting it for authorization.

Never treat “the payload looks correct” as proof that a JWT is valid or untampered.
